R-series thermal protectors are high-performance miniaturized bimetallic switches that can be used in a wide range of different applications and devices. They are specifically designed for use in electrical windings, making them an ideal choice for motor and transformer protection when automatic reset is not desired.
The current-sensitive protectors in this series detect the temperature of the protected device, but they also react to the self-heating of the bimetallic disc passing through the current. This feature significantly reduces overheating if the switch is used in the main winding circuit. The contacts snap open when the threshold temperature is reached.
Electrical maintenance is provided by a heating element mounted parallel to the switch mechanism. Reset of the switch is possible only by disconnecting the device from the power supply. Numerous customizations broaden the spectrum of applications.
